Email statistics methodology
Source, classification rules, reproducible public outputs and limits for the daily email infrastructure snapshot.
Data updated 2026-07-25.
Source and scope
The report uses OpenINTEL forward-DNS measurements for the Tranco top-1M snapshot dated 2026-07-25. It reports aggregate DNS observations, not mailbox contents or recipient-level events.
Provider attribution
Mailbox providers are classified from primary MX targets. ESP and SaaS sender relationships are classified from SPF include mechanisms. Unmatched records remain visible in the main report rather than being assigned speculatively.
Limits
MX, SPF and DMARC describe published infrastructure and authentication policy. They cannot prove whether a particular message reaches inbox, promotions, spam or is rejected.
Reproducible public outputs
